After what seemed like forever, my 23andMe results are in. Health-wise, i am a tank, resistant to if not str8 out immune to most illnesses. Pretty much the one blemish to an otherwise PERFECT genetic health report is something I learned while in the Navy. My blood is missing G6PD. Which only means that I am immune to Malaria. How awesome is that?! Even my one and only bad is good.
The ancestry breakdown (shown in the picture above) had a few pleasant but baffling surprises. I knew of my French ancestry because of my Last name and from stories. The English is no surprise, nor is the Native American. But the Finnish… And where’d the Asian come from? I’m happy about it, but confused as fuck.
This experience is so exciting. 3rd, 4th and distant cousins I never knew are popping up like i won the lottery. Contacting me, found through the site. And new information is coming in everyday. Now to investigate What african country my ppl hail from.
And find the source of my mysterious Asian ancestry.
